After the success of the British edition, The Best Chef of Italian Cuisine – Parmigiano Reggiano Award arrives in Germany for the first time. The competition, organized by the Federation of Italian Chefs – Foreign Association Germany, in collaboration with I Love Italian Food, cultural association and international network that promotes the authentic Italian food and wine culture in the world, will be sponsored once again by the Consortium of Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese.
The competition, which will crown the best chef of Italian cuisine in Germany, is open to all chefs of any nationality living in Germany, who want to try their hand at creating an Italian-inspired dish of their own creation.
“We are proud to bring this initiative also to German – declares Antonino Russo, President of FIC Germany -. After the excellent work carried out in London by our colleague and President Enzo Oliveri, we could only welcome with great pleasure the competition that will put our beloved cuisine centre stage and bring an opportunity to the young chefs who strive every day to bring Italy and our products to German tables.”
Chefs who want to take part in the competition must send a video of a first course recipe by 30th September. The proposals will be evaluated by a jury of chefs, chaired by the President of FIC Germany Antonino Russo.
This first phase will decide the six finalists who will compete on November 7th in Düsselfdorf, on the stage of “The Italian Show by I Love Italian Food”, the event dedicated to the storytelling of the made in Italy supply chains on foreign markets. During the final, the chefs will have one hour to prepare a dish of their own creation, which will be evaluated according to specific criteria, by a jury of well-known chefs recognised in Germany and beyond. Furthermore, extra marks can be assigned for the use of Parmigiano Reggiano, the denomination that gives its name to the Prize. Parmigiano Reggiano, in fact, is one of the top five PDOs of the Italian agri-food system and registers a stable presence on the German market, which is the third largest export market, with sales both on large-scale distribution and Ho.Re.Ca..
The winner will receive a check for € 1,000.00, a sample of Parmigiano Reggiano and a set of professional pots. CLICK HERE to read the competition rules.
