Educating, tasting, promoting: these are the three key words around which revolves The Italian Show, the format dedicated to the storytelling of Made in Italy supply chains that took place for the first time in London last May 30.

Organized by I Love Italian Food in collaboration with the UK Sommelier Association and the Federazione Italiana Cuochi Delegazione UK, the day allowed Italian producers and consortia of protection to get in touch with more than 1,750 Anglo-Saxon professionals including chefs, restaurateurs, sommeliers, distributors and journalists.

The schedule, created to entertain visitors to the event from morning to late afternoon, was full of educational moments to teach professionals about the use of the excellences of the world of food, wine, but also mixology, tasting moments to allow the public of local professionals to taste and learn about the flavors of our land, and moments of promotion and storytelling of the products, through the voices of chefs and experts.

Throughout the day, more than 80 excellences were narrated: chefs from FIC or celebrity chefs such as Giancarlo Caldesi and Aldo Zilli engaged in show cooking and demos, delighting the guests’ palates. Consortia and producers made their products available for tasting moments, with Parmigiano Reggiano, pasta, ice cream and more than 800 coffees served. And then the world of wine, with over 4,000 glasses of wine tasted, and mixology, with over 300 cocktails mixed by the UKBG team to share the world of Italian spirits.

It was a day full of excitement, especially for the protagonists of the two competitions that enlivened the day of The Italian Show. In fact, there were two prizes awarded: one for the world of chefs with The Best Chef Of Italian Cuisine in UK – Parmigiano Reggiano Award, given to chef Luca Sanna; one for the world of sommeliers with The Best UK Sommelier – Villa Sandi Award, on whose podium stood sommelier Christopher Parker.

A great success for this first event of The Italian Show, which will be replicated next September in Dusseldorf for professionals from the German market. Stay tuned!
