In the context of the GUSTO project, financed by the European Union, another successful initiative was realized through three days of incoming organized by I Love Italian Food. The goal was to promote the four Tuscan PDO and PGI products featured in the campaign: Pecorino Toscano PDO, Prosciutto Toscano PDO, Finocchiona PGI, and Toscano PGI Extra Virgin Olive Oil. A true journey through the territory and production chains of Tuscany, in collaboration with the protection consortia.

Five journalists, selected and engaged in Germany by the German network of I Love Italian Food, had the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive stay in the heart of Tuscany with a program entirely dedicated to Tuscany and its excellences.

The experience included guided tours of the production sites of PDO and PGI products, guided tastings, and in-depth moments on the culture and history of the region. Each Consortium involved a company with an exclusive narrative of the production chain along with local experts: Salumificio Viani for Prosciutto Toscano PDO, Salumi Subissati for Finocchiona PGI, Caseificio Busti for Pecorino Toscano PDO, and finally, the Tuscan Olive Growers’ Association – OL.MA for Toscano PGI Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Each visit was followed by a tasting of PDO and PGI products at the company’s headquarters, providing journalists with a convivial moment to deepen their knowledge about Tuscan excellences and the history of the visited establishments.

The highlight of the incoming was the gala dinner at Il Caldinale Restaurant, which provided a unique culinary experience with a menu specially designed to highlight the four Tuscan products. This opportunity further strengthened the relationship between the consortia and the journalists, effectively promoting Tuscan products and creating a direct exchange opportunity between producers and the German press.

The initiative once again demonstrated the success of the GUSTO project, contributing to consolidating the reputation and appreciation of Tuscany and its products in the international market.
