1 hour and 37 minutes

blood orange juice, 1 cup + 2 tbsp
water, 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp
white sugar, 1/2 cup
partially whipped cream, 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp
orange liquor, 1 tbsp

Preheat the gelato machine before putting the bowl in. For the “fruit base”: pour the sugar and water in a saucepan, add the orange liquor and bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
Let simmer for 2 minutes.
Cool the syrup in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
In a bowl mix the orange juice to the syrup and the partially whipped cream.
Pour the mixture into the basket of the gelato machine and process according to the manufacturer’s instructions. For me about 35 minutes.
Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool for at least an hour.
Once reached the desired consistency pour the orange gelato in a container and store in freezer until ready to use.
