Drain and set aside.<br \/>\nIn a saucepan heat the cream, remove from heat, add chopped chocolate and 1\/2 cup of sugar.  Stir well and let it cool, then add the cold milk.<br \/>\nPour into the drum of Il Gelataio &#8211; previously cooled in the freezer &#8211; and turn on the shovel. The gelato will be ready in about 25 minutes.<br \/>\nIn a no stick pan put pitted cherries, butter and remaining sugar. Cook for few minutes at very low heat, until you have a syrup.
