Although the salad is part of the Mediterranean diet, and although it is plausible that salad has Italian origins, the answer is no: Julius Caesar has nothing to do, although many believe that the Caesar Salad is an Italian dish born at the time of the Roman Emperor.
To mislead many Americans, who usually don’t have a structured and consistent knowledge of European history, is the name of Caesar, as the Roman emperor.
Instead, the recipe was born in 1924 when the chef Caesar Cardini – Italian, born on Lake Maggiore in 1896 -invented the recipe for this dish for July 4th, Independence Day.
Recipe is called “Caesar” in his honor, but in our Country it’s easier to find them in a Fast Food then in a house.
This therefore makes it one of the most popular urban legends about Italian food.
