Roman Pinsa Wins Over New York: National Pinsa Day USA Arrives

On May 26, the Columbus Citizens Foundation in New York hosted an event entirely dedicated to Roman Pinsa, celebrating not only one of Italy’s fastest-growing food products on the international stage, but also its role as an ambassador of Italian culinary culture in the United States.

The occasion marked the official launch of National Pinsa Day USA by Pinsa Di Marco, an initiative created to introduce American consumers to Roman Pinsa while highlighting its history, distinctive characteristics, and exceptional quality.

Guests were welcomed into an atmosphere inspired by the traditions of ancient Rome, where two Roman centurions set the scene with a theatrical performance paying tribute to the Eternal City and the cultural roots of Pinsa. The immersive experience combined history, gastronomy, and conviviality, creating a memorable celebration of Italian heritage.

At the heart of the event was a guided tasting curated by Pinsa Di Marco, featuring a selection of Roman Pinsa creations designed to showcase the qualities that make this product unique. Crafted through a carefully developed dough and a long fermentation process, the Pinsa impressed guests with its light texture, crispy exterior, and soft, airy interior—demonstrating how tradition and innovation can coexist in perfect harmony.

The evening brought together food and beverage professionals, restaurateurs, importers, distributors, journalists, and industry experts eager to learn more about a product that has rapidly earned an increasingly important place in the international culinary landscape.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of a new publication dedicated to the world’s finest Pinsa restaurants. The book showcases businesses across several continents that are helping spread the culture of Roman Pinsa around the globe. During the ceremony, the best Pinsa restaurants in the United States were also recognized for their outstanding commitment to preserving and promoting the authenticity, craftsmanship, and production techniques that define this uniquely Italian specialty.

By hosting the launch of National Pinsa Day USA within the walls of House of Made in Italy, the project once again reaffirmed its mission: creating opportunities where Italian products become vehicles for cultural dialogue, professional education, and the development of new business opportunities.

More than simply a tasting event, the evening told the story of a product that, while rooted in Rome’s culinary tradition, continues to expand internationally, winning over new markets and new enthusiasts around the world.

For House of Made in Italy, the launch of National Pinsa Day USA represents another important milestone in its ongoing commitment to promoting Italian excellence in the United States—a bridge connecting producers, industry professionals, and consumers through authentic experiences, education, and a shared passion for great Italian food.

House of Made in Italy is a project by I Love Italian Food and the Columbus Citizens Foundation, organized under the patronage of the Italian Trade Agency, with the support of Coldiretti and Filiera Italia.
