After the great success of past edition, Consorzio Mortadella Bologna replicates the event that will spread through the whole city the taste and aromas of a cold cut able to convey the culture and the joy of living of a whole territory.

Good since its birth, taste it in its best shape!

Bologna, September 2015 – Four days in which taste, culture and passion will be always present in the squares and in the most beautiful streets of Bologna. The main character of this “pink revolution” is Mortadella Bologna PGI.

From Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th of October, the third edition of the event dedicated to the Pink Queen of the table will adopt a new organization, involving the most suggestive places in the city to allow thousands of food lovers and gourmets to live an unforgettable cultural and gastronomic experience.

This year, the core of the event is Palazzo Re Enzo, hosting cooking labs, tastings and also a Fab Lab where producers and foodies will study new recipes and techniques for homemade Mortadella.

In this historical location you will be able to delight your taste with all the declinations that the versatile Mortadella Bologna PGI can take in the kitchen. A plethora of recipes, from the simplest to the most complex and refined ones, will be prepared by the chefs of ChefToChef Association – led by Massimo Spigaroli, Massimo Botturae, Igles Corelli – that counts among its members a strong presence of local chefs, such as Matteo Aloe, Aurora Mazzucchelli and Massimiliano Poggi.

The stage of this authentic celebration of taste is the Area Restorativa (Restaurants Area) created in the prestigious Salone Podestà. Here, starred chefs will alternate – from Friday night to Sunday – offering their personal interpretations of our culinary tradition.

This year’s greatest news, showing the creativity and dynamism of our gastronomic environment, is Champagneria: located on the first floor of Palazzo Re Enzo, overlooking Piazza Maggiore, it will host happy hours with tastings of exclusive sandwiches and gourmet finger foods, accompanied by a glass of champagne.

The fragrances and colors of Mortadella Bologna PGI will spread in the whole Centro Storico (Old Bologna) of the regional capital. In Via dell’Indipendenza, the most central street in the city, lots of FoodTrucks – one for each company of the Consortium – will tempt gourmands and food lovers with the best offers of Mortadella Bologna PGI.

Yet, this is not enough. Colorful FoodBikes will animate the streets of the city center – all personalized according to “mortadella” style – and they’ll offer the classic rosetta (rose-shaped bread) stuffed with Mortadella Bologna PGI.

“We’re working hard to set everything in time for this third edition of MortadellaBò, that will show an agenda rich in events engaging both curious people and food lovers, children and adults – Marco Corradini (President of Consorzio Mortadella Bologna) says – This year, the many initiatives, mainly concentrated in Palazzo Re Enzo, have been thought to exalt the role of Mortadella Bologna PGI has in the kitchen: from the simplest to the most structured and gourmet recipes, to show the extreme versatility of this great traditional cold cut. We’re doing our best to give all those who will come to Bologna, from 15th to 18th of October, a weekend of taste, culture and fun to celebrate Mortadella Bologna PGI”.

For the realization of the event, Consorzio Mortadella Bologna counts on the institutional support of the Ministry for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, and those of Regione Emilia Romagna, Fondazione Città d’Arte, APT Emilia Romagna, Comune di Bologna and Bologna Chamber of Commerce.
