Today, October 4th 2013, ten thousand breeders and farmers from Emilia Romagna, Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Tuscany, took to the streets to defend “true” Italian products and protect consumers from false Made in Italy products.
3 out of every 4 Prosciuttos produced in Italy are from animals bred in Germany, The Netherlands, France and Spain. Yet they can claim to be “Made in Italy”.
This is what Coldiretti denounces: millions of tons of pork meat and legs, cross the border and become false “Made in Italy” products, highlighting the necessity to adopt a tracking system to protect true italian products.
I Love Italian Food agrees with Coldiretti and with the goal of today’s protest, being it in line with our mission and our passion for true italian food.
In order to protect true italian products, in the next few months I Love Italian Food will introduce its first “certification 2.0” that will allow producers of 100% italian food to protect themselves from unfair competition from false Made in Italy products.
